Judge and Jury
I recently finished up a series on Wednesday nights called, “Judge and Jury”. As is usually the case, this series probably helped me as much as it helped anyone else. (I’m the most judgmental person I know!) Anyway, for those of you who missed these teachings (or for those who just need a refresher), here are a couple of the takeaways from each week.
Week #1
“You will be judged by others in the same way and with the same weight as you yourself judge.”
“When you’re holier-than-thou, you’re holier-than-no one.”
“When we don’t deal with the plank in our eyes, we lose leverage with the people who have dust in theirs.”
“Only when I come to terms with my own sinfulness, am I able to be help someone else come to terms with theirs.”
Week #2
“Sometimes, the most loving thing you can do for someone else is address their sin, not to condemn them, but to rescue them.”
“The way you live your life affects the people you’re connected to in this church.”
“People who don’t know God also don’t know any better.”
Week #3
“To be alive is to be judged.”
“The most natural thing to do when you are unfairly judged, is to return the favor.”
“Judgmental people never go away.”
