Rock Around the Clock (Nov 07)

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

This is my first attempt at sharing what music I’m currently listening to in my car or on my i-Pod.  It was hard to narrow my list down to just five songs for the whole month, but here they are in no particular order.

1.  “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman- I haven’t listened to this song yet without crying.

2.  “You Are Everything” by Matthew West- I love to sing this song at the top of my lungs.

3.  “Mighty to Save” by Hillsong- Josh Ray sings this song in the office every day and when he does, it’s pretty much in my head the rest of the day…it’s a great song to have in your head though

4.  “Yes You Have” by Leeland- I downloaded this song right after I heard it for the first time…unbelievable song…definitely one of my all time favorites

5.  “We Got the Party”- Because I have children, I have to listen to Hannah Montana almost every day…with that said, I think I enjoy this one the most

The weekend in review

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Here are a few things that happened to our staff this past week:

·        I was on a trip this weekend with a few staff members to meet with other churches.  We got to see and talk with some amazing people at unbelievable churches.  One of the churches we took a tour of has over 20,000 people on the weekend.  That’s like the entire city of Perry.  Another church is only 7 years old and averages 6100.  Unreal…if them why not us?

·        Miami, Alabama & Georgia Tech lost this weekend – so myself, the Walls family & the Clark family are in denial.

·        Georgia won (beat Troy!!) – So Randall, Jim & Charlie are all happy…I wonder if any of those guys even know where Troy University is located?

·        If you did not know, we have a staff Fantasy Football League and that is always the topic of the Monday staff meeting…in case you are wondering I’m ranked #1 and Charlie has fallen from #2 all the way to #8 – he needs prayer.

·        Sunday was a great morning at Southside.  Our volunteers have been doing an amazing job.  There was so much energy and excitement on campus Sunday.

·        We had around 20 people complete class 101 Sunday afternoon.  Two of them were from my small group and committed to be baptized next Sunday.  That is 4 people from my small group that have been/are going to be baptized in the last 3 months…I think I also lead in the staff fantasy baptism league.

I Want Candy

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

The Family Festival was a huge success.  Not only did three or four thousand kids and their parents show up on our campus to get lots and lots of candy, but it really was an incredible night of fun.  In fact, more than a few families took the time to tell me what an awesome time they had.

Anyway, I enjoyed seeing all the creative costumes throughout the night.  And although I didn’t take as many pictures as I wanted to, here are some of the pictures I was able to take.

This was probably my favorite costume of the night.

I think this is Leonardo, but I’m not a Ninja Turtles expert.

I’m not sure who this is, but my guess is that he’s some sort of Chocolate Toast Monster
